David Martin was a pastor and theologian born in Revel. He studied Theology, Philosophy, History and Oriental languages (Hebrew in particular). After the revocation of the Edict of Nantes, he had to go into exile. Being a Protestant, he was hunted down and had to go to Holland, where he began to write books on science and theology.
David Martin will endeavor to make corrections to the old versions of the Bible but he will also translate it. He created his masterpiece, the Martin Bible, in a simple style while retaining the strength and precision of the original text.
